The Terrazi Troop is a car manufactured by Terrazi, featured in Ridge Racer Type 4 and Ridge Racer 64.

Design and performance[]

A notable feature in this car is a hood-mounted air intake. At a glance, it may be similar to the Assoluto Fatalita due to the circular headlights similar to those on the Lotus Elise, but the rest of the exterior is different, it's mostly based on the Porsche 911 (964). Power comes from a turbocharged 2 liter inline-4 engine and initially mated to a 5-speed transmission. Under R4's branch system, it falls in the lower end of Stage 2.

The car also appears in Ridge Racer 64, representing and in colors of Pac Racing Club.

The following is a translated transcription of the car featured in the Japanese Ridge Racer Type 4 - Namco Official Guide Book R4:

Made in Japan that made the world a thing.

This Troop was designed by Terrazi with the aim of expanding into the world. This machine, which was made with the North American market in mind, is equipped with a turbo engine with a displacement of 2,000cc in the basic design and will eventually be tuned up to a super machine that exceeds 300 km/h for oval. However, you can see the high specs of the turbo, as Terrazi aimed for the turbo, which started to be launched in North America in the latter half of the 1980s and quickly became a best-selling car, and subsequently in Europe as well. It was the success of this Troop that made it easy for us to enter the international world of RRR.  It is truly a car made in Japan which has swept the world.

Trivia[]

  • It is one of the cars featured in R4's cover art, opening movie and publications, alongside the Assoluto Bisonte, Lizard Detector, and Age Solo Dirigeant. Canonically, it sports the Pac Racing Club livery.
  • Strangely, the Troop appears with some differences in its design: In HD renderings, and in the limited edition 1:43 scale diecast of the car, it is more similar to a Mitsubishi FTO, with a shorter rear end and a slightly larger wing, headlights very similar to those of the Porsche 911 (996) and separate taillights. However, the in-game model of the car has headlights without their black mask (making them appear purely round rather than Porsche 996-style headlights), taillights apparently together, a slightly elongated rear end and a more discreet spoiler. Additionally, the texture position of the P.R.C. is different in the game than it is represented in the HD model and in the diecast.
  • It is the only known Terrazi vehicle to appear in left-hand drive form, as seen in R4's intro movie. This is a reference to its description, where it says that the Troop was a car made with the global market in mind, including the United States (similar to Mitsubishi with the Eclipse).
  • The name of the car has a meaning related to a group of soldiers with heavy weapons, perhaps being a pun on the thought that this car is prepared to face its rivals on the races and their competitors in sales.
