Ridge Racers Mobile (リッジレーサーズモバイル) is a mobile game developed and published by Bandai Namco Games for Japanese feature phones. It was released for i-mode phones on 28 November 2007 and for Yahoo!Keitai phones on 7 January 2009. This is the first Ridge Racer game released for mobile phones, albeit exclusively for Japan.

Overview[]

Ridge Racers Mobile serves as a limited mobile port of Ridge Racers and Ridge Racers 2, featuring the same interface and design. Many gameplay mechanics from the PSP games are implemented in this version, such as nitrous boosting and the three different machine drift types. Notably, however, the game does not feature career and multiplayer modes.

Game modes[]

  • Arcade: A quick race mode around one course of the player's choosing in a 12-car grid. Like many earlier Ridge Racer games, it is checkpoint-based.
  • Duel: A quick race mode around a course against one AI opponent.
  • Survival: A quick race mode around a course in a 4-car grid, with the car in last place being eliminated after each lap.
  • Time Attack: A time trial mode where players race around a course as fast as they can to achieve the fastest lap times.

Courses[]

Five courses are available based on their Ridge Racers incarnations.[2] These courses can be played in both forward and reverse directions.

Vehicles[]

A total of 22 machines are available in Ridge Racers Mobile.[3] Eighteen are split across three machine classes; each machine can be found in all three main machine classes but in only one performance type and one livery that is colored differently based on machine class. The remaining four machines belong to a special class, featuring two distinct versions of the Soldat Crinale and Kamata Angelus.
