The Infinito is a sports/racing car manufactured by Assoluto, featured in Ridge Racer Type 4 and Ridge Racer 64.
Design and performance[]
Design wise, it sports a typical low slung bodywork commonly found in high-end race versions of supercars, with resemblance to Peugeot Oxia concept car. Power comes courtesy of a turbocharged 4.2 liter V10 engine that's basically an enlarged Cavaliere engine. Despite weighing heavier than the Cavaliere, the Infinito is situated in the top end of Stage 3.
The following is a translated transcription of the car featured in the Japanese Ridge Racer Type 4 - Namco Official Guide Book R4:
A heavy turbo sound that does not betray the rugged styling.
Some people may grin at the specs of the Infinito, which has a wide body due to its low height. According to one theory, this car, which is said to have been made by Mr. Assoluto in consideration of participating in the 24 Hours of Daytona(!), is an Italian-built American car made to counter the American rate of demand. In particular, this unit, which produces the highest horsepower of over 500 at 6,300 RPM, is characterized by a thick turbo sound. and it's fierce like a different ground. It is a strong mistake of "masculinity" that doesn't betray its rugged style. In addition, the Infinito is a car which is most good at drifting in the middle corner, so master its sense of speed that plunges into the corner at full throttle, which you can also taste the acidity of drift which slides its body very quickly.
Trivia[]
- The car's name means "infinity" in Italian.
- In Ridge Racer 64, the car uses Assoluto Vulcano's livery.
- The story behind the Infinito according to the Ridge Racer Type 4 guidebook may reference the Ferrari 365 GTB4 "Daytona" (and its Competizione variant), an Italian car originally built for the purpose to compete in American sports car racing.
- Given the car's late introduction in the late 1990s, and the uncertainty of Mr. Assoluto's lifetime, this may also be a reference to the Ferrari F40, the last car ever approved by Enzo Ferrari before his death in 1988.
- "Namco Pac-Man", the 321st vehicle in R4 that can be obtained after unlocking all 320 Grand-Prix cars, has the exact maximum speed as Infinito of RTS, although it is shown to be a "Stage 4" car.
