The Âge Supernova is a car produced by Âge, appearing in R4: Ridge Racer Type 4 and Ridge Racer 64.
Design and performance[]
The Supernova is an open-cockpit Le Mans Prototype, resembling specifically the Ferrari 333 SP, equipped with a canopy. It's Age's full-scale racing car, featuring a very light weight, a powerful 4.0 liter V12 engine, low-slung profile to reduce aerodynamic drag and an extensive aerodynamic work. It may not be as powerful as the Sorciere, but it can reach higher top speed. On R4's branch system, it's Age's top-spec Stage 4 car.
The Supernova also appears in Ridge Racer 64, bearing it's own livery.
Trivia[]
- The Âge Supernova can be considered as the predecessor to Âge Ultranova, which later appeared in Ridge Racer 6 and Ridge Racer 7. The similar "nova" monikers given to both the Supernova and Ultranova implies a connection between the two cars. However, the Supernova is an LMP and the Ultranova is an experimental single-seater race car. Both, however, are based on highly-successful race cars that have won certain events prior to the storylines of the games they appeared in.
- The car's name is pronounced in the French "Shper-no-va" as opposed to the English "Soup-per-no-va".
